• Type in a formula using any combination numbers and functions and press "=".
• To use variables (u, v, x, y, z) you must set each variable's value that you use in the formula. Press "set" and the variable which you would like to set. The equation field will now display the variable value which you can give any value or any function of a value. Press "set" again to return to the formula. The variable button will now be marked with a "", indicating that it has a value. Press "=" to calculate.
• To reset all variable values, press "MC". Pressing "AC" when editing a variable value will clear only that variable.
• The "Ans" button types "Ans" in the formula. This is a variable that holds the value in the Answer Field. E.g. typing "3×4" and pressing "=", will give 12, the variable "Ans" now has a value of 12.
• Holding down the "Ans" button types the value in the Answer Field.
• To edit a formula, use the "←" and "→" buttons to move the cursor left and right. Holding down "←" moves the cursor to the start of the formula, Holding down "→" moves the cursor to the end of the formula.
• If the formula becomes too big for the Equation Field to display, white dots, ".." will be displayed before and or after the Equation Field if there is hidden text left and or right of the formula respectively.
• If the Answer Field displays "x,y undefined", you did not set the value for variables x and y. Set values for x and y and press "=".
• If the Answer Field displays "syntax error", the formula contains an error, e.g. 3×((3+5) or 4×+5 will give a "syntax error". Check the formula carefully.
• If the Answer Field displays "math error", the formula contains undefined operations, e.g. √(-1) or ln(-2) with give a "math error". Check the formula carefully.
• If the Answer Field displays "x var error", there was either a syntax error or math error in the variable x. Check the formula for x carefully.
• The button "e" represents the base of the natural logarithm.
• The button "π" represents PI.
• The button "hyp" enables hyperbolic sin, cos and tan.
• The button "inv" enables inverses of sin, cos and tan in trigonometric and hyperbolic modes.
• The button "!" takes the factorial of a positive integer, e.g. 3!=6.
• The button "√" takes the square root of a positive number, e.g. √9=3.
• The button "EXP" gives the exponent function, e.g. 2E3=200.
• The button "²" takes a square of a number, e.g. 3²=9.
• The button "^" takes a power of a number, e.g. 2^3=8.
• The button "log" takes the logarithm of a number to the base 10, e.g. log 8=0.90308997.
• The button "ln" takes the natural logarithm of a number to the base e, e.g. ln 8=2.079441542.
• Algebra Calculator conserves distributive rules, e.g. 2+3×4=14 and (2+3)×4=20.
